WHAT MAKES A GOOD MAN?
I AM NOT HERE FOR EXCESS DRAMA, WE ALL HAVE ENOUGH OF THAT IN OUR LIVES ALREADY.
I'm here to enjoy myself with mature, adult orientated RP. I'm not interested in babysitting children. My writing and RP may include dark, violent themes and sexual content that may be triggering to some, but neither are my driving motivation. Casual, mundane, and fantastical interactions are just as desirable. I aim to write stories that are authentic to the setting and beholden to common sense.
I bend the established Ishgardian lore a little bit for the sake of my character's history and background, but really it doesn't hurt or change anything else for anyone else. I tend to play those cards close the chest anyways, so it's easy for you to ignore in a public setting. Aside from that I am playing by the book. If you bring new rules to the table, I have a very open mind, but reserve the right to reject farcical abilities or origins outright.
IC=/=OOC. My character is not me. If you find him to be a crass, insensitive asshole, then by all means treat HIM as such. Not ME.

I've been writing and roleplaying since I was a teenager. I am very much not a teenager anymore. I've built my own worlds and folded myself the worlds of others. I know what I'm doing.
I've successfully stewarded complete noobs into the world of fantasy roleplay and been entrusted with the authority to shepherd and administrate over various communities numerous times. I approach all situations with the honest intention to be fair to the players and characters. Treat me with respect, and you will be given respect in turn.
REAL LIFE COMES FIRST.
I have important, nay, vital obligations to people in the real world that will always, always take priority over others. That means my time isn't always my own despite my wishes, and that even if I'm online that doesn't always mean I am in the mood to write or even be social. People coming at me feeling entitled to my time or attention will quickly be sent packing.

BIOGRAPHY. Arken was born into a struggling noble family embroiled in cutthroat Ishgardian politics. A child of a muddled bloodline with dubious origins, a great deal of pressure was placed on him to be a worthy heir. He was destined to become a formidable warrior, a leader of men in wartime, and a shrewd head of family. Unfortunately all these expectations were too much for him to bear.Rebelling against his father's impossible expectations, he struck out on his own at 16. With nothing more than the martial skill drilled into him from birth, he turned to mercenary work to support himself. He drifted from one company to another, struggling to find a group of like-minded mercenaries he could rely upon.Making friends and allies along the way, he eventually pulled together a group trusted, hard workers from numerous companies, pulling them into a new entity they dubbed The Wayward. It was a company lead by a triumvirate--3 leaders, each with equal say in matters of business and management. Arken was on head of the triumvirate, being the founder of the whole enterprise.
A man by the name of Viktor Vasnetsov was another co-founder of The Wayward. The two often butted heads, as was the intention of the tri-leadership role, to make sure all members of the company felt they had representation. Viktor's role was to argue for... more extreme contracts and measures.This balancing act lasted for years, to the benefit of all. Or so everyone thought. During what should have been a simple cargo hauling mission for The Wayward, the group was nearly wiped out to the last man when they were ambushed. Arken and a handful of other survivors deduced Viktor's betrayal of the group and confronted him. Even outnumbered Viktor stood victorious, and nearly cut out Arken's eye during the battle.With most of Arken's friends dead or now sworn enemies who sided with Viktor, Arken was once again alone, and forced to return to taking whatever mercenary work he could to survive.

But a recent global phenomenon damaged his ability to control his own aether. He has taken to wielding gunbreaker's arms to mitigate this disadvantage in combat as he seeks a more permanent solution.

01. Mercenary
For almost his entire life Arken has been in the business of violence, and the fact he's been in the game this long should be a good indication of how fucking good he is at it. He has a reputation for getting the job done quickly and professionally, and can even be discrete if required. That's the good days, though. On the bad days? Jobs go to hell at the drop of a hat and the wrong people get killed--or not killed--and everybody walks away pissed off and poorer for it, though usually that's just Arken. Maybe he fucked a job up in the past, and you're looking for recompense.
02. Friend from the past
He's lived a long life, travelled the world, seen wondrous landscapes and stayed in beautiful cities. Maybe you crossed paths on the road, and just thought to say hello again. Maybe you worked together as mercenaries on a good job--or a bad one. Doesn't matter, he'd probably remember you all the same. And if he doesn't? Who cares, buy him a drink and start over fresh.
